Firuse's Workshops 2010




Hi,


This is Firuse Stalcup the Persian Potter here in Sedona Arizona. Some time ago you attended a ceramic workshop in my home which was sponsored by the Elder Hostel program. This year NAU Elder Hostel administration has dramatially reduced the courses they are offering so I have decided to offer you a new version of my ceramic workshops.


For this workshop I am planning to offer exploring with paper clay and colored paper clay. For those of you interested working in different areas of ceramic art I am open to work with you. Also included in the workshop are two afternoons of cooking parties which should be lots of fun.

Please select any of the dates above and send a non-refundable deposit of $50 (applied to fee) to reserve your place. During your workshop I suggest you stay at our local La Quinta Inn which you can access at http://www.laquintainnsedona.com/ They are reasonably priced and offer quite good breakfasts. During February the rate is $89 per night (either single or double occupancy) which includes either a Senior or an online discount of 10% After February the rate is $107 per night (either single or

double occupancy).with the same discount. I will provide you with lunch each day and on Tuesday and Thursday we will have dinner in my home.


Sunday -- You will arrive at your motel (check in time is 3 pm) in the afternoon here in the Village of Oak Creek.


Monday -- After breakfast at the motel we will drive you to our home at 9 am. Today we will get acquainted and the rest of the morning will be spent with ceramics. After lunch we will work on ceramics until 4 pm when we will return you to your motel. You will have dinner at one of the local restaurants of your choice.


Tuesday -- After breakfast at the motel we will drive you to our home at 9 am.. We will spend the morning working with ceramics. After lunch you have the choice of staying in my studio to work on your own or we will take you to Red Rock Crossing for a lovely 1.5 mile hike. At 3 pm we will all participate in the cooking session during which I will show you how to make pizza dough and assist you in preparing your own gourmet pizzas. At 5 pm we will bake the pizzas in our outdoor oven (a homemade Mexican oven called a horno) and have dinner.


Wednesday -- After breakfast at the motel we will drive you to our home at 9 am. The morning will be spent with ceramics. After lunch we will work on ceramics until 4 pm when we will return you to your motel. You will have dinner at one of the local restaurants of your choice.


Thursday -- After breakfast at the motel we will drive you to our home at 9 am.. We will spend the morning working with ceramics. After lunch you have the choice of staying in my studio to work on your own or take a local hike. At 3 pm we will all participate at the cooking session where we will explore different methods of preparing Middle Eastern food and dinner will be served at 5 pm..


Friday -- After breakfast at the motel we will say goodby and wish you a safe trip home..


The fee for the workshop is $400 per person which includes the following:

Two full and two half days of ceramic work

Two half days of free studio time and cooking classes (fun)

Four lunches and two dinners

All material fees

Bisque firing

Glazing and glaze firing

Shipping and handling charges

Transportation to and from the motel in the Village of Oak Creek.


Please make your own reservations at the La Quinta Inn or one of the other motels here in the Village of Oak Creek. You will be responsible for your dinners on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday at any of our local restaurants.


You can view our neighborhood in Google maps using 25 Sierra Roja Cir, Sedona AZ 86351 as the address. As you can see our home is surrounded by Forest Service land which is available for hiking and the famous Red Rock Crossing at Oak Creek is just 3 miles down Verde Valley School Road.
